명사 출제포인트

▣ 가산명사와 불가산 명사 구분

▣ 수량 형용사 (many, much, each, every)의 사용

 

대표 불가산 명사 (암기!!!)

ㄴ time, news, mail, food, money, support, access

ㄴ information, equipment, funiture

ㄴ luggage, baggage, macinery

ㄴ advice, produce(농산물), poetry(시)

ㄴ jewely, stationery, permission(허락)

ㄴ liquids (coffee, rain, snow, milk)

 

혼동하기 쉬운 가산 명사와 불가산 명사

another = an + other

ㄴ 단수 취급

- 단수 대명사

- 단수 가산 명사 수식 (형용사)

 

수량형용사

* 고득점 포인트:

every / another + 2 이상의 숫자 + 복수명사

ㄴ 2 이상의 숫자가 들어간 경우 복수 명사가 올 수 있음

ㄴ 그 외에는 단수 명사만 가능

사람/사물/추상 명사는 해석을 통해서 고른다

Applicant 지원자 / application 신청 / appliance 가전제품

1) appliance store → 가전제품 대리점

2) We only contact a qualified applicant → 자격을 갖춘 지원자

3) Fill out the application form → 지원서

 

복합명사

ㄴ 암기!!

ㄴ 복합 명사를 복수형으로 만들 때는 뒤의 명사에 -(e)s를 붙인다

ㄴ 예외: 원래 -s 로 끝나는 단어들 

    sales 판매, customs 세과, savings 저축

 

"숫자 + 단위명사 + 명사"에서 단위명사에는 -s가 붙지 못한다

ㄴ six hundreds students (x)

ㄴ six hundred students (O)

 

* 단위명사(s) + of + 복수명사 가능

Hundresds / Thousands / Millions + of + 복수명사

 

어휘

1) be comparable to + 명사(비교하는 대상): ~에 필적하다, ~과 비길 만하다.

The size of the city is comparable to that of Philadelphia.

그 도시의 크기는 필라델피아의 크기와 필적하다

cf) compared to ~와 비교해서

 

2) be honored for ~으로 상을 받아, 명예를 얻다

ㄴ for + 업적/이유

ㄴ recognize/acknowledge 공로를 인정하다

 

3) be subject to + 명사 ~의 영향을 받기 쉽다, (승인 등을) 받아야한다.
